Peer support

Peer Support Program

The peer support program is a program designed to assist students in their transition from a familiar and senior position in primary school to the most junior and anonymous position in high school.

The program is based on the principle that at every level and in every age group in society, people absorb information and values from each other. The program's activities are structured so that peer support and positive peer influence are introduced through group activities which focus on self development, communication skills and leadership opportunities. It provides Year 7 students with the opportunity for self development, and the friendship and security of a trusted, older peer in Year 10.

The peer support leaders are students who are chosen by the School Wellbeing Team, having been recognised as responsible, respected and valued members of the student population with personal qualities suited for peer support. They are selected when they are in Year 9 and Year 10.
