The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (the Duke of Ed)

Young people have what it takes to become world ready... the Duke of Ed helps them prove it.

The Duke of Ed is a globally recognised youth framework that supports students to grow beyond the classroom through meaningful extra-curricular experiences.

Through the Duke of Ed, students set personal goals, try new things, stay active and give back to their community, all while developing independence, resilience, confidence, purpose and a strong sense of achievement.

What is involved?
  • 3 Levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold
  • Students choose their goals, interests and pace
  • One activity per Section (i.e. Voluntary Service, Physical Activity and Skill)
  • A team-based Adventurous Journey
  • Opportunities to discover passions and strengths beyond the classroom
Why do we recommend the Duke of Ed?
It encourages personal growth and the development of real-world skills such as resilience, confidence, teamwork and wellbeing. It complements academic learning by recognising achievements beyond the classroom, something universities and employers are increasingly looking for in applications.
